 At the end of the meal, after a welcome from the Warden, Ian Balding made the main speech of the day, and the Chairman of Council, Mike Hodgson, presented Dennis with a magnum of champagne. He spoke with great warmth of his time at Radley and his love for the school and the community, and with Diana received the longest standing ovation anyone present had heard, even including party political conferences.
