The following activities have been run over the past few years, many are planned to be repeated.
CCF Adventure Training Camps
The following optional events are arranged through the year - please contact PMF if you would like any more information. Applications for these events generally are via the Contingent Commander - TMM.
Summer Adventure Training Camp - end of Summer Term
An 8-day camp based near Keswick in the Lake District. Activities undertaken include: an ascent of Sca Fell Pike (tallest mountain in England) from Seathwaite; two half-days of mountain biking (Whinlatter and Grizedale); orienteering; Go Ape; an overnight expedition, including a 'wild camp'; ghyll scrambling; and climbing. Overnight accommodation is in tents, with a large building for all 'administration' and kit storage.
The classic mountain adventure - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
Radley Ridgeway Relay
A relay along the 86 miles of the Ridgeway from Ivinghoe Beacon to Avebury. The A-team will do 36 miles in total, the B team 32, and the C team 28. Usually done from 15.00 to 10.00 on the first night of Michaelmas weekend, every few years. A great adventure running through the night.
Teams of 3-6 run 50km between them. A great team-building and fundraising challenge.
Radley 24-hour track challenge
Like the 50km relay, but a bit further and teams of around 10 runners - last time we managed to get 212 miles.
At the purpose-built facility at Milton Keynes. You are towed on a wire system around the large lake.
Trip to Cornwall to include: surfing, snorkelling, banana boat and maybe quad-biking.
Trail/Mountain Biking excursions
Trail biking around local area on ‘specially selected’ routes. Time out will depend on age and ability of group, as well as weather conditions. Tuesday/Thursday afternoons, or on CCF camps.
Trips to Oxford Brookes climbing wall on Tuesday/Thursday afternoons.
To Oxford karting circuit to race around the track. Driving licence not required.
An afternoon trying not to be hit by small paint pellets - that can quite hurt. Lots of fun and a chance to use your CCF skills.
Bob Graham Round Relay
A relay attempt of the famous 24-hour solo challenge. It took us 33 hours to complete - quite a challenge!
- Thames Path Triathlon
- Parascending trip
- Guinness World Records Day
- Ridgeway ‘End to end to end’ (Run/MTB adventure)
- Overseas climbing trip
- Long distance cycle adventure - maybe Thames Path route - 80 miles
