On the evening of Monday 26th September, a very large audeince from the Philosophy and Academic Societies was stimulated by a remarkable talk on Ethics for Sexbots by Dr Anders Sandberg, of Oxford University's Futhure of Humanity Institute.
This was Anders' fourth visit to the College and he lived up to expectation with a fascinating look at the
practicalities of robotics, the evolution of sexual attraction and of romantic love, and the ethical issues arising out of the categorising of objects, moral patients and moral agents.
A lengthy and varied set of questions on transhumanism in general (and cryonics in particular) followed. We hope to tempt Anders back yet again, in due course.
