On Wednesday 28th September, the Chapel Choir sung evensong at Salisbury Cathedral.
The day started with a tour of the cathedral. The Choir was split into groups with the 6.2 boys taken on the tower tour. We had to climb many steps to get to the tower’s balcony but the reward was some stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The other boys were taken to see the Magna Carta and the rest of the cathedral. After a fascinating tour we then went straight into a rehearsal for the evensong. Whilst the rehearsal may not have gone as smoothly as everyone would have liked, the singing during the service was fantastic. The Choir sang Haydn’s “Insanae in vanae curae” as well as the Standford Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis. The boys were rewarded for their hard work with a pizza and coke in Pizza Express. All in all, it was a successful and very enjoyable day out.
