Charities Fair

Charities Fair

During Central Hour on Tuesday, April 19th, a Charities Fair took place in Covered Passage, organised by Radley’s Charities Coordinator, TAB.

A number of Charities were represented, in stalls staffed by boys supporting these Charities with fund-raising activities this year. These included: the children’s charity, Barnardo’s (below), the B Social Charity; our partner school in Gehandu, Tanzania (also below: a sale of Krispy Kreme doughnuts was held earlier that morning, organised by 6.1 boys who will be visiting Gehandu in July); the Helen and Douglas House, Oxford (three 6.1s, Alex Milne, Alistair Gethin and Cosmo Cotton, pictured above top, are cycling 1,200 km this Summer, to Bilbao, to raise money for this cause); and 'Beat' (above) – the Eating Disorders Charity.

Alexander Milne (H Social, 6.1) adds:

On April 19th, during Central Hour, the ‘Charities Fair’ was held for the first time. Boys and dons drifted in and out of lunch, greeted on every occasion by a row of tables, advertising different charities. Everyone at Radley now has 24 hours in order to cast their votes online for their most favoured international, national and regional charity. These charities will then be supported in the ’Twelve Labours of Radley’ event on the 18th September, in which every member of The College will take part.

Challenges range from running up and down Mansion’s stairs, to wading across the swimming pool: an event that the athletic members of The College will be looking forward to, and that the slightly less sporty ones will probably not be looking forward to quite so much.
