The Spanish Department was delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Remove to take part in an exchange with a boy of the same age from Chile.
There was a lot of interest in the chance to welcome Marcos (photographed) and offer him the chance to experience life in the UK, but Bertie Berry, F Social, was the Remove student chosen.
For two weeks earlier this term, we welcomed Marcos into lessons, games and activities, and he had the chance to experience life in F Social. Bertie will be travelling to Santiago during the Radley summer holidays, and we hope he gains as much from his experience in Chile as Marcos did in the UK.
Bertie Berry, Remove, F Social, writes:
“Marcos arrived on Monday evening and I was very excited to meet him. Though he was very tired, I thought it would be sensible to take him for a tour quickly and introduce him to the right people before letting him go to sleep. The things that Radley had to offer fascinated him and, in turn, I got a sneak peek into his life back in Santiago. His English was far better than I had expected, which means that I’m going to have to improve my Spanish a whole lot by July. We had an argument on how to say ‘huevos’: apparently the way I say it makes him laugh a lot! The way he said that Radley was perfect really made me think how lucky I am; the amount of times he thought he needed to pay the kitchen staff to have a meal really made me think. All in all, this trip has been great so far and I can’t wait for it to continue with my
trip Chile in the summer.”
