On Sunday 18 June, the Radley College Choristers were invited to sing with the Portsmouth Cathedral Choir. After the morning service here at Radley, the twenty-one choristers travelled down to Portsmouth, resplendent in glorious sunshine. After a trip to the world-renowned Mary Rose Museum and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (complete with the opportunity to try on Tudor costume and experiment with firing a full size longbow), the choristers joined the Cathedral Choir for a brief rehearsal before performing alongside them at evensong.
The sound of the massed choir of 32 boy choristers alongside Portsmouth's professional altos, tenors and basses was stunning, particularly in the thrilling anthem 'All Wisdom Cometh from the Lord' by Philip Moore. We very much look forward to welcoming the Portsmouth Cathedral Choir back for a return visit to Radley next year.
