The Jock Mullard Rowing Tank - opened 6th of September 2015
The new Jock Mullard Rowing Tank was 'officially' opened on the 6th of September with a celebratory lunch, followed by a demonstration of the rowing tank by the boys. This event was held for those who had contributed to the funding, construction and development of the tank over the last 7 years. Some of those who attended formed crews themselves and tried out the tank and reported it was very realistic, and excellent to be able to see your performance on the several cameras located around the tank linked up to screen at the front.
It was a very special day, as it represented the culmination of a long-held ambition to have a Rowing Tank in the heart of Radley Campus. It will be a valuable training aid for beginners and for both junior and senior wet-bobs, not only when the river is in flood, but when crews need to sharpen their skills, fitness and togetherness away from the water.
Clock Tower Court - opened 7th of March 2014
This new building, on the site of the Old Gym, was officially opened on 7th March 2014 and has been in use for a full academic year. The Art and Sculpture Galleries are spectacular and have played host to numerous exhibitions of work from boys, ORs and well-known artists. The History and Politics classrooms are practical, spacious and full of natural light. The forum space, with its high ceiling and glass front, and the coffee shop, have proved to be impressive and versatile additions for boys, parents and visitors and are much used.
And the building is very eco-friendly. Alternative energy sources ensure that the running costs are minimal with warm water from a 50m bore hole processed through heat exchangers to capture and store the heat which is dispersed via under-floor heating.
