Duke of Edinburgh

Radley College is a Directly Licenced Centre and offers Bronze and Gold DofE programmes. Supported by a team of experienced staff, pupils enrolled on the award have the opportunity to work towards an internationally recognised accolade.

The DofE is a non-competitive programme that will give participants skills, confidence and a view on life that everyone is looking for, from employers to colleges and universities.  Your son may be doing many of these activities already and the DofE is a way of getting recognition for these.  Also it will help him to make a

difference to other people’s lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last a lifetime.  The award is also looked on favorably by universities and employers.

The award is split into different sections each allowing participants different and exciting challenges and opportunities. Indeed, many of those who enrol undertake new interests that they may never have considered if they had not begun the programme.

Bronze level has four sections:  Skills, Physical, Volunteering, and Expedition and the Gold Award has five:  Skills, Physical, Volunteering, Expedition and Residential. More information can be found on the extensive DofE website:

The D of E website

One of the most fulfilling elements of the DofE is that the individual sets their own targets and can take the award in any direction that they please. This makes the completion of the award even more satisfying.

Both the Bronze and Gold awards at Radley are incredibly popular with over 120 boys enrolled on the Bronze award in the Remove and Fifth Form and over 70 enrolled on the Gold award across the Sixth Form.
