The Economics Society made its much-anticipated return with a bang. Radley was extremely lucky to have our very own Stephen Molyneux, Head of Economics, talk about “The Death of the Euro”. It was an intellectually stimulating talk on the failings of the common currency of 19 out of the 28 European Union members. Mr Molyneux explained to the packed and eager Coffee Shop how the implementation of the Eurozone in 2002 was rife with errors, and how the economic objectives of the European Central Bank are not set for a successful single currency. He talked about how the Eurozone actually caused divergence between the core countries and periphery countries. The talk kindled many student’s interest in economics, and the next economic society is no doubt keenly awaited.
