On Thursday 28th January,
Draven McConville spoke in the Coffee Shop to an extremely engaged audience. Mr
McConville’s path, from a bag of clothes, £200 and a bus ticket to his
successful start-up included almost every thinkable failure and success that could
be expected from such a journey.
The qualities required for
such a remarkable journey were expressed though a refreshingly slick
PowerPoint, which included Jordan Belfort and Felix Baumgartner. These
inspirational figures and his personal mentalities drove the talk, with
examples of each described in relation to his experiences. Qualities such as
‘attitude not aptitude’ and courage were emphasised as crucial to his success.
Questions were asked about
the best way into app development and how he picked himself up after becoming
virtually homeless. They were answered with his mental attributes mentioned
earlier in mind. Overall, it was an extremely inspiring talk which made us feel
very grateful for the opportunities that we have.
