On the evening of Friday the 24th of February, Radley was lucky to experience “Homage to Hemmingway”, an exhibition of art pieces, created by artist, George Fox. The artwork comprised a mixture of Oil on Canvas and Mixed Media, using more than just oil and paint to create a piece. It was a tremendous display, full of incredibly artistically evoking pieces.
George Fox’s work contained many influences. His aim was to blend art, literature and music. Fox had worked on several musicals, he said was a big inspiration for the art, and is interested in opera. Much of the work was based on or depicted places, or cities, such as Venice, Nice, Brussels and Catalonia to name a few. Fox said that the period in-between the World Wars was a fascination to him, and influenced his work also. The work was truly beautiful and his use of different styles complemented the sources of his work extremely well.
