On the 4th of February, the Radley College Boat Club attended the Hampton Head. Six crews consisting of two JC15 crews, two J16 crews and two senior crews had a very successful day of rowing. Our controlled manner in the water concluded a podium position for the 1st 8, and the rest of the crews came in the top 20 within year group. The J15 and J16 crews raced with matched eights, which added extra competition amongst the Radley crews, leading to just 4 and 3 seconds separating boats respectively. The 3k race was faster than usual as the river was flowing quickly, because of the rainy weather earlier in the week. It was also a big day, being the first race for JC15’s in sweep oar, making the experience more memorable. The race day gave us an early view of the competition we will come up against, and where the hard training we have all been putting in has placed us at this very early point in the season.
