A truly exceptional Event was held at Radley on Tuesday November 14th, when all Radley 6.2s, together with Year 13 pupils from St Helen and St Katharine, Abingdon and Watford Grammar School for Girls, participated in the ‘Holocaust Study Day’.
Dame Helen Hyde DBE, former Head of Watford Grammar School for Girls, gave an introduction to the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and there were thought-provoking talks on key aspects of the Holocaust from Mr Paul Salmons, from the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education and Professor Tim Cole, University of Bristol. In addition, all 250-plus students present had the opportunity to listen to and talk with Holocaust Survivors: including Eva Clarke (photographed). Mr Eric Eugene Murangwa, a survivor of the Rwanda Holocaust, also spoke in the closing afternoon session.
