The final ISI Inspection report arrived yesterday and a copy can be seen here.
Whilst the report, as you will see, is fairly bland and is primarily about compliance with regulations and The National Minimum Standards for Boarding, I am delighted to tell you that we fully meet the standards. Whilst we would obviously expect that of ourselves, there is, as you can imagine, a raft of legislation that we have to keep on top of and policies need not only to be seen to work in practice but also to meet demanding rules in terms of wording and structure. A lot of hard work goes into this and I am particularly grateful to Roger Shaw, Senior Master, who oversees this on behalf of the Senior Management Team.
The Inspectors were very impressed with all that we do. They are duty bound to make recommendations but, as you can see, the suggestions they make are small . . . and have already been addressed. Pastoral care continues to be very strong at the school and our provision of boarding is excellent. My thanks go to to all staff in this regard - both dons and support staff - but I am sure you will understand why I pick out the PHMs, the Tutors and Resident Sub-Tutors, and the Medical Centre for particular praise. A successful Boarding Inspection reminds us of the importance of safeguarding and compliance but also the centrality of pastoral care to all that we seek to achieve.
I should add that the boy and parental questionnaires were overwhelmingly positive; I am most grateful to all who completed them.
