Independent Schools' Bagpipe Competition

The 9th Independent Schools’ Bagpipe Competition took place at Radley in Silk Hall on Sunday, November 15th. The adjudicator was Pipe Major Roger Huth, Pipe Major of the British Airways Pipe Band. In addition to the six Radley pipers competing, Abingdon, Ludgrove, The Dragon, Oundle, D’Overbroek’s and Stowe schools were all represented.

Main Picture: the winners of the ‘15 and Under’ Quick March Category – Bryce Jersing (from Abingdon, 1st) and Radleians, Hugo Bertie (2nd) and Albi Tufnell (3rd ). These three are also pictured (above) with the adjudicator, Roger Huth, and Rory Bertie from Ludgrove, who won the ‘Chanter’ Quick March section.

In addition, Hugo Bertie won the 'March, Strathspey and Reel' section

The event was organised by Simon Carr, Head of Brass and Woodwind - with particular thanks to Stephen Duffy, Radley’s Pipe Major.
