Jackanory: the dystopian edition
Report by Alex Bhandarkar, Remove, F Social.
On the evening of Thursday November 9th, at the end of a hard-working Radleian day, the boys finally had time to escape the prep and work they were set to do, and unwound and relaxed in the cosy Panelled Room, where they were read their favourite Dystopian novel of all time.
'1984' by George Orwell, was read diligently and carefully by our famous Mr Sheldrake, and we mysteriously dived into a world of constant monitoring and depression, seen through the eyes of the protagonist Winston Smith. By the end of the unsettling yet gripping tale, we all sat on the very edge of our seats (or in some cases bean-bags).
