'North Korea Exposed' - a unique and fascinating Talk by Jeremy Hunter, Award-winning Photojournalist: Coffee Shop, Wednesday, March 9th.
March 9th, Jeremy Hunter came to describe his visit to North Korea, under the
guise of a tourist. The sheer idea of being unaware of the world outside your
country shocks me. Mr Hunter described how the North Korean people have been
led to believe matters that are simply not true and how one man can manipulate
and control his people. The Regime is the force in control of North Korea
itself and forces its opinions and ideals onto the country as a whole. Mr
Hunter then went on to talk about the punishments people were put through if
they did not obey the Regime: from having a Bible or a Chinese mobile phone and
being sent to a camp for this, to believing in other forms of religion and
being executed. The country's overpowering hatred towards the United States is
shown in the use of teaching children in schools to learn verbs with the phrase
" We kill Americans". The talk was incredible and it gave the
audience a huge understanding and insight on a very secluded country.
