The Fifths have returned from Exam Leave to take part in a week-long ‘Life Skills’ Programme, starting on Monday, 26th June.
This varied programme of activities includes a workshop by the Fire Service with advice on learning to drive, road safety and the pitfalls of drink-driving. There will also be a workshop dedicated to Gap Year safety, with information on how to stay safe and healthy during a gap year overseas.
The PSHCE element is tackled with the ‘Standing Tall’ programme – a fun-packed full day, designed to improve self-esteem, promote modern manners and introduce interview intelligence, with boys working alongside visiting girls from Downe House.
Life Skills week also features a one-day film school with the Young Film Academy (photographed). This day-long activity offers Boys an opportunity to learn about script-writing, editing and ultimately film-making.
The week will also include valuable University careers advice and an introduction to Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ) with details about the opportunities available for Boys to extend their abilities beyond the A Level syllabus so they can stand out as they prepare for University.
