The Fifths have returned from Exam Leave to take part in a week-long ‘Life Skills’ Programme, starting on Monday, 27th June.
This varied programme of activities includes a workshop by the Fire Service with advice on learning to drive, road safety and the pitfalls of drink-driving. There will also be a workshop dedicated to Gap Year safety, with information on how to stay safe and healthy during a gap year overseas.
The PSHCE element is tackled with the ‘Standing Tall’ programme – a fun-packed full day, designed to improve self-esteem, promote modern manners and introduce interview intelligence, with boys working alongside visiting girls from Downe House. There will also be a talk on the temptations of this summer's music festivals, as well as mentoring and prefecting workshops.
We are delighted to welcome back several distinguished ORs to talk to the Boys about their careers since leaving Radley. Sir Charlie Mayfield, Jamie Campbell, Harry Parker and Ben Lambert all have varying experiences and different tales to tell.
Life Skills week also features a one-day film school with the Young Film Academy. This day-long activity offers Boys an opportunity to learn about script-writing, editing and ultimately film-making.
The week will also include valuable University careers advice and an introduction to Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ) with details about the opportunities available for Boys to extend their abilities beyond the A Level syllabus so they can stand out as they prepare for University.
