Radley For Life - Entrepreneurism 2016
Radley For Life held another networking event on Wednesday 27th April 2016, this time focused on the theme of ‘entrepreneurism’. All Old Radleians and Radley parents who are interested in starting and growing their own business were invited – and also those with the skills and experience to mentor them. Nearly 100 people attended the event, kindly hosted by Killik & Co in Mayfair, and heard speakers from three different start-ups at differing stages in their development. Will Wells, told us about Hummingbird, a drone-enabled data and imagery analytics company for the European smart farming space, a very new start-up business. This was followed by Doug Ker, owner of meli-melo, who described how he had taken his business from £500k turnover to £5 million. Finally, Guy Proddow talked about golfbreaks.com, a well-established company now embarking on the international expansion of its leisure business. Then there was a Q&A session on financing options chaired by Judy Marsden, a Radley parent, followed by an open networking session at the end of the evening.
We had survey responses from over half the people who attended who all said that the event had either met or exceeded their expectations and that they would like to have at least two of these networking events every year.
