Tom George and Ollie Wynne-Griffiths both competed in the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida last week. It was the first appearance at a senior championships for both Tom and Ollie although they are both medal winners at Junior and U23 world championship level.
Tom achieved an excellent result, finishing 5th overall in the world which was a remarkable achievement at this very high level. Ollie was selected as the official spare and had to sub in at stroke position in the crucial semi-final race for Britain's top boat, the coxless four. Ollie's performance in the semi-final was described as "heroic" in an article in The Telegraph.
Congratulations to Tom and Ollie for their performances and best wishes to them for their ongoing quest to compete for GB at the Tokyo Olympics.
