"Thank You" to all those who offered help with Careers Dear Old Radleians and Parents Many thanks indeed for your response to the Personal Information Form which we sent to you in June 2000 and in particular for your offer to help with the Radleian Careers Assistance project. You may be wondering what has been happening since then. Central to making the project feasible and effective from the careers standpoint is the Society's new database. This will obviously make it a lot easier to organise the Careers Evening for 6.1 boys in the summer term and it is the essential basis for putting Radleians in touch with those who have offered help subsequently. Much work has therefore been going on to get all the information onto this new database and this is now largely completed. The large number of offers of help from people representing a very wide range of different career paths was hugely encouraging and very much appreciated by the Radleian Society. This network of experience and contacts potentially offers Radley and ORs a great resource to tap into. I very much hope that the potential of this will be fully realised in the years ahead but at this early stage it is difficult to predict how many Radleians will respond. Until Radleians become familiar with the project, it is likely that the initial response to all our offers may be rather limited. However, I would be very surprised if interest does not build up steadily over time as people realise how helpful this initiative could be. Please therefore do not expect any great flurry of activity or feel that your offer of help has been forgotten or gone unheeded, if you hear nothing directly. That is most certainly not the case. Short updates on how we are getting on will appear in Lusimus. On behalf of the Radleian Society, thank you again very much for your offer of help. Yours sincerely Andrew Holmes |
