The Eastern Sprints, which took place last weekend, is one of the biggest university rowing events in the USA with all the Ivy League universities competing as well as many other universities. No fewer than six Old Radleians were involved in the event and all six came away with medals in their respective categories.
Ollie Wynne-Griffith (2007) and Charlie Elwes (2010) were in the Yale 1st heavyweight crew which won their event and continued an unbeaten season for the crew. Tom George was the stroke of the Princeton heavyweight eight which finished a very close second in the same event.
Alex George and Hubert Simpson caused the biggest upset of the day when they beat the favourites, Cornell, by just 0.08 of a second to take the gold medal for Yale in the lightweight 2V eights event. Louis a’Brassard was in the Yale lightweight 3V which won the bronze medal in their event.
Very well done to all the ORs who competed and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.
