On Saturday 12th November, five Sixth form boys and four Fifth form boys went to Pangbourne to take part in the Junior Sculling Head. In the morning outing the Fifths were in a quad and four of the 6th form were in doubles. Unfortunately it had been raining consistently for 4 hours so the boys hade to brave a downpour accompanied by occasional gusts of freezing wind.
After waiting approximately half an hour on the river in cold conditions the racing eventually started. The doubles finished 9th and 10th respectively in their category and the Fifths did well to win their age category. After de-rigging our boats from the morning race, we got ready to race in singles in the afternoon. Fortunately the rain stopped but all our clothes were already soaked so it didn’t turn out to be much better. The singles race got underway much quicker and a special mention to Max Dunlap who came 6th in his age category and to Theo Metcalf who won his. All in all it was a very successful day for the boat club.
