Reading at Radley - Michael Bawtree
You are invited to a ‘Reading at Radley’ by Michael Bawtree - Saturday 16th May, 1.30pm

Michael who was at Radley in the 1950s where he was a close friend of Peter Cook, will be at Radley to read from his new memoir, AS FAR AS I REMEMBER. The memoir includes two full chapters on his life at the school, during that time not long after the war when food rationing was only just being phased out, and when few people had yet recovered from the economic stresses of wartime Britain.

The reading will be held in the coffee shop in Clock Tower Court (on the Old Gym Site). Please email cmm.monaghan@radley.org.uk only if you plan to attend, so we can ensure we have enough refreshments!

OR Property Dinner

The OR Property Dinner took place on Thursday 12th of February at Boodles and was attended by 64 ORs and guests.  The delicious dinner was accompanied by great discussion across all areas of the property market by a mix of experienced and younger ORs.  Grace was said by the Foundation's own Hamish Aird and the Warden gave the address.  This event is proving extremely popular so those wishing to attend next year are urged to book quickly!

The Silver Ball in aid of The Armed Forces Fund

The Silver Ball took place on Friday 28th November 2014 at Supernova, Embankment Gardens, London WC2N 6PA where over 700 guests enjoyed a fabulous dinner and glittering auction followed by dancing to the Earthlights Boogie Band.  Photos from the evening can be viewed and purchased via our Silver Ball Microsite.

The Radley Rugby Centenary Celebration

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate 100 years of rugby at Radley.

The day commenced with an OR All Stars game on Big Side with the final result being a close 21 - 20.  A very exciting game!

A fabulous buffet was provided by the Radley catering team and visitors enjoyed meeting old friends and reading the history of rugby at Radley provided by the school archivist.

The school matches against St Pauls provided further entertainment followed by match tea and even the weather 'played ball'.

Recent University Suppers
Newcastle:  Monday 9th December

Bristol:  Monday 17th March

Students at Durham, Newcastle and Northumbria Universities together with Durham Business School and students from Bath and Bristol universities have recently gathered at local restaurants for supper.  It proved a great opportunity to hear about student life in the and for the students to learn more about the Radleian Society and RadleyforLife.  Mr Simon Barlass and Mr David Edwards represented Common Room and and entertained all with their update on the School!  Rupert Henson, Chairman of the Radleian Society, was also present in Newcastle.

The Radley West Country Dinner
Friday 1st November
More than 60 people attended our recent dinner in The Roman Baths & Pump Room in Bath with a great mix of ORs and current and past parents.

This was one of a series of regional dinners aimed at ensuring all those with a connection with Radley can meet together in a congenial environment close to home.  A reception overlooking the Roman Baths was followed by a delicious three course meal and, as one of the guests said afterwards:

".. it was a great way for me to meet some local people and hear about developments at the school."

1979 - 1986 Reunion
Saturday 14th September
Nearly 100 ORs attended Evensong, watched rugby against Sherborne, joined the opening of the new Sewell Centre Art Gallery and dined in Hall at the recent reunion.   Many came with young families which was lovely to see.

The new building by Clock Tower was the focus of events with all impressed by the new History and Politics classrooms and the art exhibition area and new teaching rooms.  The exhibition of OR Art (including art, photography and sculpture by Oliver Cooke, Tom Evetts, Archie Franks, Pete Hawkins, Dmitri Kasterine, Arthur Laidlaw, Charlie Langton, Charlie Mackesy, Hamish Mackie, Jake Rusby, Ben Robinson, Rupert Till) was much appreciated.

An electronic display of archives also provided much mirth, particularly the cartoons of Hamish Aird and others!

Pre-1958 Reunion
Sunday 23rd June                                                                PHOTOS AVAILABLE HERE!
A very warm welcome was extended to 160 ORs who attended Sung Eucharist followed by a luncheon in College.   Many memories surfaced and old friendships were renewed and strengthened.  Boys tooks the ORs on tours of the College campus to see the many changes over the last few decades and it seems these impressed those present who, in some cases, wished they could come back to school now to take advantage of them!

The London Networking Party
Thursday 6th June
Nearly 200 people attended the first London Networking Party at The Mermaid in Puddle Dock.  A great mix of professions was represented by ORs of all ages together with current and past parents.  Whilst some attended just to join up with old friends, more came to find about a chosen career, network across disciplines or just be there to help younger ORs looking for guidance.  We hope to make this a regular event in the Radleian Society calendar.
