At the start of the rowing season more than 170 junior male rowers entered the GB trial process. These boys are required to complete a number of demanding ergo and water trials during the course of the year. Five Radley boys have been taking part in the trial process and all are still hoping to be involved in the final trials in the summer. However a small number of boys are selected to trial in March based on their performance in the long distance trials over two days. Archie McChesney and Joshua Bowesman-Jones achieved an excellent 3rd and 4th in this trial out of 40 entries securing them an invitation to the March trial. Unfortunately Joshua contracted pneumonia before the trial and was therefore unable to attend.
Archie competed at the trials and after four days of extensive testing was selected for the GB Junior Team to compete in the Munich International Regatta on the 6th and 7th May this year. Congratulations to Archie on this outstanding achievement and commiserations to Joshua who would also have had a very good chance of being selected if he had been able to attend the trials.
