Over Easter I went on a residential rehearsal week in Kent at Sevenoaks School. I met incredible people with talent and enthusiasm for performing. The rehearsals were tiring with a 9am to 9pm day which started with a dance cardio class and then intense vocal warmups.
The show I have been cast in is called 'Spring Awakening' and is an alternative rock musical by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater and based on the original German play 'Spring Awakening' by Frank Wedekind. I was so thrilled to start working on this musical as the music was unlike any other musical as it had a folk infused rock score.
Most of the cast had been a part of an NYMT production before so knew the intensity of the programme, however none of us saw it as a chore because singing, acting and dancing are what we love doing. I was rehearsing with young adults who have been on the West End stage more than once or been on TV in dramas. They already know how tough the industry is and how determination is the key to success. Everyone around me had a deep rooted passion for performing which came across in the rehearsals.
I am extremely grateful for the experience I have had at Radley which has prepared me for the intensity of the programme.
