Richard III – History Trip to Leicester

At midday on the 24th May, a group of 6.1 Historians embarked on their trip up to Leicester to visit the Richard III Visitor Centre, in order to prepare themselves for their coursework on said King. Following a coach journey up, the boys began their tour of the exhibition: first learning about the recent reinternment of Richard, and then progressing through the museum. Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of the diverse exhibit was the opportunity to learn all about the rediscovery of Richard’s bones and then even to see the site of the excavation itself.

Finally, the boys were given a lecture from one of the employees at the Centre who commented on the influence of the Tudor tradition and the constantly-changing, and controversial, opinions there are about Richard. After a brief visit to the gift shop, the boys then returned back to Radley, much enlightened and hopefully now armed with much now material upon which to base their coursework.
