Summer Term 2013
The Milligan Cup

The Milligan Cup, for Musical Theatre Performance, was held in the Theatre on the evening of 21st May. There were twelve finalists, representing all Radley yeargroups.
The Adjudicator was the distinguished Composer and West End ‘MD’ (Musical Director), Corin Buckeridge. Debbie Milligan, the presenter of the original trophy was present - and the Cup itself was presented by Michael Crawford (the original ‘Phantom of the Opera’ in the West End and on Broadway).
First Prize and the Milligan Cup was awarded to Ned Campbell (E Social), for his rendition of ‘I’m Martin Guerre’ from the Musical, ‘Martin Guerre’. Second came Henry McPherson (D), who performed ‘In Whatever Time We Have’ from ‘Children of Eden’. Third equal were Jamie Robinson (F), with his performance of ‘The Confrontation’ from ‘Jekyll and Hyde’, and Freddie Light (H), who sang ‘Finishing the Hat’ from ‘Sunday in the Park with George’.
Corin Buckeridge praised all twelve finalists, declaring the overall standard to be “extraordinary”.
The songs were accompanied by a six-piece band, led by SDJC and including members of the Music Department. The Theatre department also helped with Production, Lighting and Costumes.

Inter-Social Hockey
Congratulations to E Social for winning the Junior Inter-Social Hockey competition. F Social were the losing finalists.
C Social won the Senior Competition, beating E in the final.

Inter-Social (Senior) Debating
Wednesday, 20th March
The Motion was “This House would rather have Beauty than Brains", with last year’s winners, H Social (Bertie Beor-Roberts, Bertie Hill and Tom Saunders) proposing and A Social (Will Hyslop, Will Treadwell and Charlie Huntingford), in opposition.

Adjudicator JRWB commended all six main speakers for their “impressive” speeches and gave the verdict to H Social, with the individual ‘Best Speaker’ award going to Tom Saunders. Charlie Clifton-Brown (A Social) won the prize for Best Floor Speaker

Inter-Social Ergo Competition - Thursday, 31st January

Congratulations to F Social on winning the Inter-Social Ergo Trophy this year, on the evening of January 31st. Thanks to Christian Felkel (pictured left, with the winning F Social team), who came to present the trophy and medals. Christian coached the GB Olympic mens’ Eight and Pair, who both won Bronze in London 2012.
Well done too, to all the Social teams for some spirited performances. It was great to see such passionate support from the boys and thanks to all those who came along to watch and support.

Inter-Social Swimming - Sunday 13th January
This year the trophy stays with J SOCIAL and a new school record was set by J's 4x25mts relay with a fabulous 54''04. Well done Charlie Elwes, Louis a Brassard, Freddie Florin and Tom Graham.

Inter-Social Relays - Gaudy, 6th July
The Gaudy Relays scores together with the Inter-Social Athletics scores decide the overall winners for the Wallace Watson Trophy. This year overall winners were B Social, very narrowly beating G Social by 2 points.

Inter-Social Athletics - 4th July
G Social looked to have continued their recent dominance with a fine win in the Intermediate Event (with J 2nd and B 3rd) but a storming performance in the Senior Event where B Social romped home (with G 2nd and C a surprising 3rd) meant that overall B snatched a narrow victory.

Shell Inter-Social Tennis - 3rd July
The winners of the Shell inter-Social Tennis Competition were G Social who defeated H Social in the final.
D Social defeated F Social in the final of the plate.

Inter-Social Water Polo Competition - during May
After a complex series of first round matches, followed by a 3 way semi-final, A Social triumphed over D Social in the final of the competition on 24th May. The score was 10-2

Lent Term 2012
Inter-Social Football
After a fantastic tournament E Social were crowned champions after a thrilling penalty shoot-out in the Senior Competition, whilst G Social edged to a narrow victory in the Junior Competition. Blair "Grylls" McCallum was the Senior golden-boot (with 7 goals) and goal-machine Ed Loftus, G Social (5), was top scorer in the Juniors.

Well done to K Social for winning the Inter-Social Ergo Competition. After completing a total distance of over 3 200m, only 9 metres separated the first two Socials.

Friday 4th November - Spens Trophy
Inter-Social general knowledge competition
H Social and C Social met in the final and H Social were the winners. The team:
George Gundle, Thomas Saunders, Edward Whitbread & Bertram Beor-Roberts.
Thursday 20th October - Inter-Social Partsong Competition
The competition was adjudicated by Jonathan Willcocks and he chose D Social as winners with their rendition of 'Africa'.
Sunday 9th October - Haddon Cup
The Haddon Cup (Shell drama competition was won by G Social with 'White Feathers'. Best actor was Patrick Walker, also G Social.
Thursday 22nd September - Geography Quiz
After a very hard fought battle, where the lead changed hands a number of times, the results of the first Geography Quiz were as follows.

With B and G being nip-and-tuck going into the relays on Friday we see that G Social literally ran away with it, in every relay they finished either first or second, amazing. Well done to all who competed in what was a fun event.

Won by A Social with 9 points, closely followed by J Social on 8 points. Special mention to two swimmers from H Social who had to swim twice in each relay to make up the full team, this showed real determination and committment to the Social.
