The Senior Golf Team have enjoyed an excellent start to their season. They have entered the "winter shutdown" with a perfect 8 wins from 8 matches played and are therefore making excellent progress in the National level competitions. In the ISGA School's Championships, a regional final vs. Reading Blue Coat School awaits in the Lent term. A win here will secure a coveted spot at the finals in late April - this will be hosted by Royal St. Georges and Princes across two days in a strokeplay format. In the HMC Foursomes Championships the boys have a regional semi-final to look forward to against Bradfield College at their chosen venue of Calcot Park near Reading. The finals in this competition are in early July and will be hosted at the picturesque Cotswold Hills, beside Cheltenham.
There is a lot of talent across all years in the College and the boys have worked hard this term. They have been assisted in a number of different ways: firstly, we have been able to set up a partnership with Frilford Heath G.C. to play team matches and conduct team training sessions during the week. Secondly, the boys have been ably supported by PGA professional Adam Wootton (Oxford Golf Centre) whom has run two coaching sessions per week since early October. Thirdly, James Marshall (strength & conditioning coach) has provided two sessions per week on golf specific movements. Finally, they have been supported around the course by prominent golfing OR Tom Beasley. Tom is currently undertaking a gap year with a view to turning professional next year and has been able to provide advice and encouragement around the programme of events. It looks as though it could be another exciting year!
