This Summer, a small group from the French department visited Paris on 22 to 27 August. The trip went very smoothly despite "la canicule" and temperatures of more than 38 degrees on some days.
We were warmly welcomed and generously hosted by Colombe Deveaud (Radley’s French assistant 2015-16) and Aurélie Miaud (Radley’s French assistant 2014-15) and their families. We spoke French all day, every day and covered a lot of grammar, translation work and target language debating with special emphasis on the burkini controversy .
All 5 boys engaged fully with the programme, obviously relishing visits to Le Musée Rodin, Le Musée d'Orsay, Les Invalides, La Maison de Victor Hugo, L'Opéra Garnier and a stand-up comedy evening at a club called "Paname". They were excellent company and superior ambassadors for the college. Levels of fluency, grammatical accuracy and general confidence have all been substantially enhanced and they should all have a little extra something to include in their personal statements.
LEN and SB accompanied Cameron Makin (F), Oliver Donaldson (F), Sam Turner (E), Ivo Kleinwort(B), Harry Rogers (K).
