On Monday 9th November, Stephen Bamford
came to talk at Radley in the Coffee Shop on how he went from being in Shell 6,
a set which he thought produced his success, to being a successful worldwide
banker. From studying politics and history at Harvard University, he took up an
internship with Goldman Sachs, who later offered him the full-time job once he
He led a very interesting talk about
how the choices he took mattered and how, when life is tough or gets you down,
there is always someone there to pick you back up.
After Stephen had finished his talk,
there were a series of questions which were, as he stated, of a very high
quality and standard. The questions included the topic of why Shell 6 made a
difference to him in his future career and if he could go back and change anything,
what would he change?
He also asked some boys what they
wanted to do at A-level and beyond and gave useful tips on certain subjects and
universities which he has come across.
