The Radley 24 Hour ‘Readathon’; a mighty conquest; a mighty failure. The entry fee to take on the 24 hour challenge, was only £10. The modest, yet peculiar sum, of £128.60 and 5 cents, was raised by the literary thrill-seekers for Book Aid International; with entry-fees having been lowered for boys only so capable to take on a few mere hours of the beast that was ‘the Readathon’.
The 5 cents, presumably was paid under the promise that the exchange rate would soon deem this coin, to be of more value than the £10 entry fee, with Britain having left the EU. As the picture below demonstrates, one by one, each gallant warrior was defeated by the mighty Readathon; succumbing to its greatness.
With most 6.1 boys, having only had a few hours of sleep in the days building up to the event, due to extensive exam preparation, it was potentially not the best time to take on the challenge. Nevertheless, it proved a fun event for all involved, and one which will undoubtedly be repeated next year.
