After nearly an entire year of rehearsing, we have arrived at the final preparations for 'Titanic, the Musical'. After hundreds of rehearsals we have been able to run the entire show with costume, lights and mics, which immediately lifts the whole show to another level. We also had the most amazing sing through with the orchestra last night and I think I can safely say that the sound is epic. The immense power of the almost fully professional orchestra really is enough to blow you away.
There are so many complicated factors associated with this show, one of them being the fact that with 40 mics, almost everyone on stage is being amplified, which means that when they walk off into the wings their mics must be turned off otherwise the entire audience hears the fascinating conversations backstage! We have had a couple of those moments. But overall the mics are genuinely impressive and there are never any crackles and whistles which is usually a common problem.
Once again, Lianne and her team have designed the most stunning costumes for everyone. There is incredible attention to detail in every single one and each one is fitted specifically to each actor. The vibrant colours are enhanced by the incredible array of lights which again add to the atmosphere. The show at times moves incredibly quickly through sections which need specific lighting (spotlights etc.) which is so complicated to choreograph. This of course relies on us to get into the correct positions at the right time!
I must say that now all of these things have come together the pressure is lifting significantly. I think I can safely say on behalf of the cast that we are all buzzing with excitement to finally be able to show what we have been working on for so long to a large audience. So, here we are, we have one more dress rehearsal before 5 sell out shows. I think all I can say now is bring it on!
