Adam Smith Society talk by Tom Green OR
On the evening of Wednesday the 23rd of November, Tom Green, an OR, came to the Coffee Shop to give us an engaging, and interesting talk on not only his career, but on entrepreneurship and how he managed to build such a successful business: a business which employs over 2000 people, and operates 80,000 hectares of land. His open style of talking engaged us from the start to the end. His main messages of quality, not quantity, determination and pursue what you enjoy, not money, were put across excellently. He went on to talk about how you should persevere, and fight through difficult times, and ideally have a team behind you, as business is all about people; but also take those risks, and don’t be daunted. It was a great talk, which was informative, outstanding and a talk which was greatly enjoyed by everyone there.
