Warden’s List

RadleyA small number of Warden’s List places are available each year for unregistered boys.

Boys need to be nominated by their headmaster or headmistress two years prior to entry to Radley.

Candidates should have all-round talents and achieve a minimum of 60% in the Entrance exams. Places are allocated by the Warden after the formal interview and consideration of the Head’s report. Further details are available from the Registrar.

Nominations for entry in 2014 open on 1st June 2012 and close on 12th October 2012

For entry to Radley in September 2014

A small number of places (around 20) will be reserved each September for the Warden’s List. This is a method of entry for boys who are not offered a place from our waiting lists or who are too late to register at all.

  1. Candidates must be of at least good (60-65%) Common Entrance standard academically and have qualities which will enrich the life of the school in fields such as drama, games, music and art. They should be inquisitive and self-motivated, eager in their response to new opportunities.

  2. Nominations in the form of a report (The Common Transfer Form) together with the full contact details of the nominee's parents should be made by the Prep School Heads (not parents) direct to the Warden.

  3. Nominations should be sent between 1st June 2012 and 12th October 2012. Prep School Heads are encouraged to submit nominations as early as possible during that period.

  4. Boys must be under 14 on 31st of August of the year of entry.

  5. After nomination, the candidates will be invited to Radley, in groups, for an assessment and interview; parents will have an opportunity to take part in a group Question and Answer session with the Warden and the Senior Masters. These group visits will take place on specific dates during the Michaelmas Term 2012. Parents will be notified of these dates at the time of nomination.

  6. Selection will be at the Warden’s discretion on the basis of performance at the assessment, interview and the Headmaster’s report. Decisions on all candidates will be made by December 2012.

  7. Candidates offered places on the Warden’s List will be expected to put Radley as their first choice school and pay the normal Final Acceptance Fee.

  8. Those who are not already registered are expected to submit a registration form and fee, once they are offered a place.

  9. Boys gaining a place on the Warden’s List may also enter for a Scholarship (Academic, Music, Art, Drama or All-rounder) at the appropriate time. Scholarship awards may be supplemented by means tested bursaries. Should a Warden's List boy require a bursary, his parents need to be aware that a bursary would only be available if he were to gain a scholarship.

  10. Prep Schools are advised to encourage prospective candidates and their parents to visit the school prior to the assessment.

  11. Socials will be allocated by the Warden to achieve a balanced spread of boys’ talents.
