Whilst Lusimus is best known to wet bobs as the name of the Boat Club's launch, it shouldn't be forgotten that the launch was named after the School song. The School's founder, Warden Sewell, wrote the words, which were set to music by the first Precentor, Dr Edwin George Monk, in 1853. In the late nineteenth century, Lusimus was sung on the last night of every term, after prize giving. It was subsequently sung on such occasions as All Saints' Day.
 
We hope, by choosing the word Lusimus as the title for our newsletter, to transmit a traditional Radley word into the 21st century.
