Every Term, a member of the Radley English Department gives
a Lecture on one of their literary passions: called the ‘Monro Lecture’, after
one of Radley’s famous literary ORs, Harold Monro, who established the long-running
poetry magazine, ‘Poetry Review’.
This October, on the evening of Monday 26th in
the Blue Room, it was the turn of Gemma Maybank, who gave a fascinating talk on
William Blake to English A level and GCSE students and fellow dons.
GVM took as her theme, “William Blake: Rebel, Prophet,
Visionary’ and emphasised the often-overlooked anti-Establishment attitudes of
this great Poet and Painter.
