K Social

K Social is a relatively new Social. Having been conceived as a concept under Warden Morgan and then given the go-ahead under Warden McPhail, the Social was opened in September 2008. The building had originally been the bursar's house (towards the bottom of the main drive) but it then incorporated a purpose-built Social, based on the best features of existing Socials.  Niall Murphy was Tutor for the first seven years and has now joined the Senior Management Team, being replaced by Chris Lee.

K Social boys are encouraged to feel at home in a friendly but disciplined atmosphere within the Social, and to give of their best in all areas, whatever their particular talents. Recent K Social successes have included two Sewell scholars, two honorary academic scholarships, the Simon Molyneux Cup, the Spens Trophy, the Midgets Rugby Cup, J14 rowing medals at the National Schools' Regatta, captains of the 1st XV, 1st XI football and cricket, an army scholarship and commissions in the Scots Guards and the Royal Marines, and places at top Russell Group universities, TCD, Yale and Oxford.

Chris Lee

Tutor of K Social

After stints at Harrow and Latymer Upper, I arrived at Radley in 2008. I teach Mathematics and coach Rugby and Rowing. I also assist with adventure training and particularly enjoy spending time in the Lake District. I have been involved in partnerships with state schools at various stages of my career and I was recently seconded to Desborough College for a year as Assistant Headmaster. I am married to Rachel and we have two children.

Charlie McKegney

K social sub-tutor

After graduating from Loughborough University I taught for 6 years at Cheltenham College and now I join Radley in the Design & Technology Dept and as Resident Sub-Tutor of K Social - along with my fiance Kelly. Outside of the workshop, I am a keen sportsman and back in the day I was lucky enough to be apart of the Queensland Reds Rugby Academy and Somerset Cricket set up to U17 level. I now coach the Midget 1 Rugby and Colts 1 Cricket sides and seeing the boys in this light is a real pleasure. In my spare time, I enjoy getting creative in the kitchen honing my culinary skills and playing all manor of sports from golf to real tennis.

Rene Themistocleous

K social pastoral housemistress

Rene Themistocleous joins Radley as K Social Pastoral House Mistress this September and she made a warm impression with everyone that she met during a three-day stay with us last year. Originally from Zimbabwe, Rene has been a friend of the College for some time, and, more recently she has worked as a carer in Henley-on-Thames. Rene also has three grown up sons who, it seems, thrived in very similar surroundings to Radley during their youth!
