Radley has been running Training Days for Prep Schools for over 15 years. No charge is made. Some 85 schools in the locality are circularised and between 25 and 35 Prep School Heads of Department and subject teachers usually attend each of the Training Afternoons. These are organised by subject, and generally cover aspects of CE and Radley Scholarship syllabuses, as well as being the means by which new ideas in Information Technology, in the delivery of the subject, and in areas like Literacy / Numeracy, Learning Support strategies, Study Skills and department management , are discussed. The aim of these Training Days is to provide worthwhile opportunities for Prep School teachers to share ideas and good practice, and many over the course of the years have indicated that they have found them invaluable.

A typical Training Day pattern across the course of the year is:

Michaelmas Term

Early October - English, Geography and Science

Lent term

Mid-January - History and Maths

Mid-February - Design Technology and Modern Languages

Summer Term

Music workshops, Art and Classics

The Sub Warden writes each year to prep schools giving precise details.

In each case the Radley Head of Department runs the course, generating an agenda in conjunction with Prep School colleagues. Prep Schools are sent a detailed agenda before the meeting.

Any Prep School subject teacher is welcome to attend, even if not on the circulation list. The Radley Head of Department concerned should be contacted beforehand.
