INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES COURSE
Radley offers two services: the company DUO (run by an Old Radleian) who conducts videotaped interviews, and an unfilmed practice interview (usually with a parent or Old Radleian who has some interview practice through his/her own occupation).

A letter portraying the two different available courses is sent out to future VI.2 parents at the beginning of the summer holidays. Parents are asked to indicate their choice by sending back a reply slip by the beginning of Michaelmas Term at the latest .

A package containing a detailed explanation of the course, a pamphlet on interview/application form/CV techniques, and a questionnaire is distributed to the boys towards the beginning of Michaelmas Term. The intention is that they complete the questionnaire, personal statement and compile CVs sooner, rather than later, so that interviews can be processed and organised quickly. As soon as all the boys' choices have been processed, timetables are posted in covered passage and socials. Internal email is used as main method of communication and reminding.

The questionnaire is tailor made, primarily looking at their 'personal statement' but also including questions about Gap year, Morrisby, university prospects and, to a certain extent, occupations. It is designed to make them think about their lives and not 'fictitious' employment.

ITC timetable during Michaelmas term::
  • Questionnaire, personal statement and CV returned to the Head of Careers directly. They should be completed as accurately as possible and before the deadlines (Candidates responsible for making photocopies if necessary)

  • Career surgeries are promoted for any required advice. Form masters and Tutors encourage the boys with completion of paperwork where necessary. The Careers Centre also stocks a large variety of books on how to write a CV, the personal statement and how to prepare for an interview.

  • Questionnaire, personal statement and CV is sent to the parents who have volunteered to interview, or to DUO (depending on with whom the boys are enrolled).

  • The interviews take place over a succession of two weeks (in the case of DUO) and several evenings (in case of the 'internal' parent practice interviews) during October and November

  • Boys receive detailed feedback notes from both course types. These can be followed up during form masters or during careers surgery
