AIM
The CCF is a training organisation based on the British Armed Forces. The aim is to provide fresh experiences and challenges for each Radleian - they should expect to receive some leadership and teamwork training, be more self-reliant, be taken beyond their normal comfort zone and learn a little about the role of the Armed Forces. Three Services are represented: Navy, Army and RAF and we also have a separate Adventure Training Wing.

TRAINING
Training takes place on Wednesday afternoons, either in the College grounds or at local military establishments. Each Section runs one Field Weekend (Sat afternoon - Mon evening) each term; this gives the opportunity for extended and enhanced training. Clothing, weapons, ammunition, equipment and Instructors are provided by the regular Services to assist with CCF training.

REMOVES
CCF at Radley College is compulsory in the Remove year. Each Remove is expected to attend all training sessions, including Field Weekends, to attend either the Easter or Summer Camp (these last one week and take place in the Easter or Summer holidays respectively - see below). Selection for each Service is made at the end of the Shell year. Boys are given the opportunity to choose which section they join, but unfortunately the sizes of sections are limited and boys may not always be given their first choice. As well as learning specific Section skills, all boys will be given instruction on Navigation, First Aid etc in the Adventure Training Wing culminating in spending a weekend camping and walking in the Brecon Beacons. On moving to the V Form they may then choose to remain in the CCF as an NCO where they are encouraged to continue to the 6.2 year in a leadership role.

EASTER CAMP – ADVENTURE TRAINING
Full details of Camps are posted to Parents/ Guardians and can also be found on the CCF Pages on the College Intranet.

The Easter Camp is an Adventure Training Camp, usually during the first week of the holiday, based in the Lake District. Cadets opting for this camp can expect to be involved in some strenuous activities, involving mountain walking and biking, climbing and abseiling, canoeing, and completing an obstacle course. Accommodation is split with half the time under canvas, the remainder spent in an Army barracks.

SUMMER HOLIDAY OPTIONS
In the summer, Cadets have more options; either to attend a Course or a Military Camp, both normally being run in the first week of the holidays. Most Courses will lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

SUMMER MILITARY CAMPS:
Army - several Camps, located around the UK, are run by the Regular Army for up to 600 Cadets at a time. They each offer slightly different training programmes, but will roughly involve 4 days of learning military skills and 1 day of adventure training.

RAF - a visit to a RAF station. There will be a balance between military training, seeing how the Station operates and some flying. The balance varies according to the function of the Station attended. Alternatively the RAF offers a number of courses which can be attended in lieu of camp.

RN - a wide selection of courses and camps run by the Royal Navy, including: dinghy and yacht sailing; power-boating; canoeing; climbing; shooting and many RYA and First Aid certification courses.
