A few places are usually available in the Sixth Form each year, however the opening of two new boarding houses at Radley in 2008 provides the College with an unprecedented opportunity to enroll 6th Form entrants into the school; for years the school has been so full at 13+ that it has been unable to meet the demand for 6th Form places. From 2008 the new houses will enable us to offer some additional 6th Form places to applicants from the UK and Overseas.

Sixth Form awards are made as a result of examinations and interviews held at Radley, usually in the November before entry. Parents and candidates are encouraged to visit before the examination but there will be an opportunity for parents to tour the school on the afternoon of the examination. A report will be requested from the candidate's present school so parents must confirm, by the closing date for entries, that they have notified their son's present Headmaster of their application.

Generous 6th Form Scholarships are available to outstanding candidates; these are subject to means testing. Musical ability may also be taken into account in awarding this Scholarship (see Music Awards). In addition awards are available through the Silk Fund and the Radley Foundation for candidates showing all round qualities that will enrich the life of the school in such fields as music, art, drama and games. These awards are specifically for candidates whose parents would not be able to afford full fees and will be means tested

The examination will consist of an IQ Test and papers in two of the subjects that the candidate thinks he will take at A level. There will be an interview with the Warden and the Director of Studies; musicians will also have an audition.
The minimum academic standard expected will be 9 GCSE subjects with at least 5 of these subjects at A*. These must include English and Mathematics. If a candidate is not sitting GCSEs we will seek an equivalent standard in the exams taken.

Letters notifying candidates of the results of their application will be posted as soon as possible after the entrance exams.

An award will be retained as long as a boy's work and conduct continue to give satisfaction.

Application forms and further details are available from June in the year prior to entry and may be obtained from

Students from Overseas

We welcome individual applications from students abroad who wish to take the two year A level course. Candidates will be expected to have achieved a high academic standard at their current school and to take examinations in two of their intended A level subjects. We take full account of the fact that candidates will not have studied within the GCSE system, however please be aware that we do not offer teaching or support in English as a Foreign Language. Examinations and interviews take place at Radley usually in the November before the year of entry.
