Written and performed by Dan and Jeff
Directed and co-written by RichardHurst

Thursday 9th October, 8pm, New Theatre

After the hilarious sucess of Potted Potter, delightful double act Dan and Jeff return in this new compressed caper. In search of talking parrots and mysterious buried treasure, they're swapping wizards for walking the plank and trading Hogwarts for the high seas.

On the way they'll be collecting pieces of eight by recounting everyone's favourite pirate legends, from Long John Silver to Jack Sparrow. Best lnown for their storeytelling appreances on the good pirate ship the Blue Peter, Dan and Jeff ,ay argue about who gets to play Johnny Depp and which of them is lumbered with the supporting role of the wooden leg.

The audience may get drawn into resolving these disputes, but not in an enforced participation sort of way - this isn't panto after all, despite the cross dressing and bad jokes. Still, it will be enjoyed by all ages, even those who don't know their shipping forecast from their sea shanty.

Ninety years on from the Armistice, Oh What a Lovely War remains a classic of the modern theatre and a powerful reminder of the atrocities of a war that cost 20 million lives. Told through the songs and documents of the period, it's a satirical attack on the military incompetence and inconceivable disregard for human life the First World War has come to represent and a chilling reminder of man's inhumanity to man.

At turns satirical, funny and deeply moving, Oh What a Lovely War has a style all its own, combining live music, dance, songs and sketches to create a picture of life for those on the front line and those behind it. Created and first performed by Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop in 1963, it received the acclaim of London audiences and critics, and won the Grand Prix of the Theatre de Nations festival in Paris in the same year. In 1969, a film version was made which extended the play's popular success.

Join acclaimed company, Blackeyed Theatre, for an unforgetable theatrical experience.
