Madame Jeanne Calment, Arles, February 1996
Describing herself as 'coquette' and enjoying being well groomed, Calment had her hair done, and dressed in a Parisien Designers outfit for this 121st birthday portrait. A feisty character with a wicked sense of humour, she thoroughly enjoyed her fame at being the world's oldest living person. She died aged 122 years. |

Mother Theresa, London, March 1997
Dedicated her life to helping people in the world who were the poorest, the most neglected and the abandoned. Her reason for being was to bring love, peace and joy to those people whom the world generally shuns. The only possessions she left behind when she died were two saris and a bucket. |
