About Us

The name of the Society is the Radleian Society, first established in 1888.  Referred to as Radleian Society in communications with the informal name being RadSoc. The operations of the Society are managed from the Development Office in Mansion, at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxon, OX14 2HR.

The purpose of the Radleian Society is to connect the Radley community, helping to build life-long social and professional networks for students, Old Radleians and parents.

Mission Statement

The Radleian Society is the focus and means by which all Radleians, Radley parents and friends of Radley can maintain their link with the College and with each other around the world, through social, sporting, cultural and professional opportunities. The Society exists to support the College, all Radleians past and present and the many people to whom Radley means so much.

Radley creates a strong sense of shared community and belonging and there is a huge amount of goodwill and willingness to help others within the Radley Community. Through actively building strong social and professional networks, RadSoc can help to access this goodwill, creating more life and career opportunities for all members.

We do this through:

• Proactively finding ways to bring the Radley community together, offering a range of different opportunities for social, sporting and professional interactions through a variety of routes from social media, to events, through to social media & publications
• Supporting Radley College and Radleians by working in close partnership with the College and remaining aligned with its strategy at all times
• Championing the preservation of the heritage of the College and its traditions through the Archives department
• Supporting young Radleians through grants that may advance the honour and well-being of the College and those associated with it
• The Society does not seek to be a profit-making organisation and all surpluses shall be used to maintain or improve member services.

The membership of the Society consists of the following categories:

• Radleians
• Parents or carers of Radleians
• Honorary Members – Past and present Members of Common Room or other Radley staff –
• Members of Council
• Ad-hoc discretionary invitations

We welcome extended connections of Old Radleians, such as siblings and grandparents to our business networking events.

There is no annual subscription payable to the Society from any member, and the Radleian Society is entirely funded by the school. This is because the school sees the Society as an extension of the College’s overall educational proposition, enabling Radleians to take the skills learnt at Radley and use them more quickly and efficiently in the outside world.

Vice-Presidents are individuals who are deemed to have made an exceptional contribution to Radley through their dedication and service over the years.

The Chairman’s role is to lead the Radleian Society Committee, representing Old Radleians at important events at Radley and beyond the campus.

The affairs of the Society are managed by a Committee of not more than 15 members of the Society (exclusive of ex-officio Members). Each Member elected to the Committee shall serve until the next Annual or other General Meeting but shall be eligible for re-election, or to stand down at each AGM.

The Committee shall meet as often as may be necessary but not less than three times a year in each calendar year.

Sub-committees: The committee may from time-to-time appoint such sub-committees as it may consider necessary or expedient, whose members need not be members of the Committee.

The Honorary Treasurer, Radleian Society Associate Director and the Development Director shall be ex-officio Members Committee, and shall have power to vote.

The Annual General Meeting shall be held once a year at Radley. The notices of such Meetings are advertised on our website.

Harry Behrens (2001, B), Programme Manager, Amazon

Harry Behrens joined the RadSoc Committee in 2023 and represents Old Radleians under 30.  He left Exeter University in 2020 and joined Amazon as a programme analyst on an internship shortly after.  He brings early career experience of working for a large business, and is highly tech savvy.  He is also a keen Mariner!
