Piano duo Double Escapement—Sam Mitchell and Ian Tindale—join forces with percussionists George English and Oliver Butterworth for a thrilling celebration of two towering figures of American minimalism in their landmark anniversary years. Centred around Steve Reich’s electrifying Quartet for two pianos and two vibraphones and John Adams’s virtuosic saga Hallelujah Junction, this programme explores the rhythmic vitality, shimmering textures, and exhilarating energy that have made these composers among the most influential voices in contemporary music.
