RadSoc welcomed young ORs back to the College on Tuesday 3rd March for a Uni Supper back on home turf. ‘Uni Supper – Return to Radley’, brought together around 40 young ORs currently studying at universities across the country.
Earlier in the evening, nine ORs kindly arrived ahead of the main event to meet informally with current boys who are considering their next steps after Radley. Over a relaxed discussion, they shared their reflections on their first experiences of university life, discussing everything from academic choices to the practical realities of living away from home. These chats were particularly valuable for those beginning the application process.
The ORs then joined the College community for Chapel before heading down to the JCR, where the Uni Supper got underway. There was a strong contingent from Oxford and London universities, but it was especially encouraging to see several who had travelled further afield to return to Radley for the evening. Guests came from universities including Birmingham, Loughborough, Warwick (with three sharing a taxi home at the end of the night), Cardiff (nearly 100 miles away!) and even Manchester, almost 150 miles from the College. Gold stars for effort were awarded!
Forty Domino’s pizzas kept everyone well supplied while the beer flowed (with Mr Pullen behind the bar) and conversations gathered pace. Around fifteen dons also stopped by during the evening, enjoying the chance to catch up with ORs, hear how university life is treating them, and share news from the College.
With the JCR full of lively conversation and familiar faces, it was clear that many were relishing the chance to be back at Radley. The evening continued well into the night, with the final stragglers heading home at around 11pm.
Thank you to all who came back to the College to join us, and particularly to those who shared their valuable insights into uni life with the current boys.
The next uni supper will take place in Bristol for ORs studying in the West of England. More details to follow in due course! Keep an eye on the RadSoc Instagram for updates.
