Radley debated West Point US Military Academy on Saturday 7th June, discussing the motion “This House believes it is better to have a Prime Minister than a President”.
Organised by the Politics Department, and chaired by famed American pollster (and College ‘Academic in Residence’) Dr Frank Luntz, the Radley team’s support of the UK parliamentary system eventually emerged victorious.
DingDing (6.1, D), who recently co-won the national grand championship of the English-Speaking Union Schools’ Mace Debating Competition, writes, “Dr Frank Luntz is known for the unique events he curates at Radley – this time was no different…
“Throughout the debate, Dr Frank Luntz (acting as the Chair) encouraged the audience to join the conversation – the result being that Radleians from the floor became part of the debate with ‘points of information’. This intellectual culture is one that is being cultivated throughout Radley – but a particular thank you to the Politics Department for making this happen.”
